From Poor QT’s Almanack

The George Washington Bridge was opened 87 years ago this week.
It opened after dedication ceremonies that called for three Army Air Corps pilots to fly in formation overhead.
But the pilots decided on their own that it might be more impressive if they flew under the bridge in formation.
Which they did.
QT’s father, Lt. Zay Smith, flew right wing.
The pilots were reprimanded afterward.
A little.
