Robert B. Smith, a University of Utah geophysicist, acknowledges that the continuing swarm of more than 1,500 Yellowstone earthquakes since June 12 is “one of the typical signs” of a volcano “acting up” before an eruption.
But he says an eruption is “unlikely.”
