QT Grammar R Us Seminar on the English Language

K.R., a Baltimore reader, writes:
“I just ran across another instance of ‘underwhelming.’ Would it be worthwhile telling people that ‘overwhelm’ means overturn, upset or overthrow, and there is really no basis for using ‘under’ as a counterpart to ‘over’ in that sense?”
QT will go one better.
It will tell people they can feel free to use “whelm” instead of “overwhelm.”
You could look it up.
And it it time for QT’s triennial reminder that “inflammable” is more flammable than “flammable”?
Not quite.
But almost.
